Searching for sea glass is one of my favorite pastimes. When I see piles of rocks down by the ocean, my excitement level skyrockets. The first day of the year, I spent at the beach basking in the winter sun and searching for the ocean gems we call sea glass.
The most commonly found colors are clear, green, and brown, but when you find a special color like blue or red, it makes it all worth it. One of my favorite finds was found a year ago: a frosty, cobalt blue marble!
Looking for sea glass is really a calming, zen pastime. You have to sort through so many stones and sand until you find what you’re looking for. After you look for a while, it becomes easier to scan the sand for the tumbled glass. It totally takes your mind off of anything! This may seem kind of funny but sometimes I make sure to pick up even the tiny pieces of sea glass, otherwise I feel that I may not find the bigger pieces! Call it sea glass superstition.
Looking for sea glass is a little bit like life: you have to sift through the ordinary to identify what is important and worthy of your time. I hope the rest of 2018 is as lovely as the first day was!

So jealous that you can go to the beach this time of year. That sea glass does look calming and very beautiful would make a nice necklace or bracelet.
I have made a couple necklaces. Thanks for your comment Shametria!
