I’ve always loved chalkboards. Maybe it is my small town upbringing, but chalkboards were only found in classrooms and when you were called up to write on them you ended up proud or disgraced. They had to be cleaned regularly and if your teacher chose you to help, it was because you were either being punished or praised. It could go either way. I still remember the smell of the damp board and chalk dust. Today, chalkboard paint is being used in creative ways for decorative purposes. The photos below make me want to go out and buy a few cans.
